Bradley Cooper was initially ready for the role of Lex Luthor in Superman before being interpreted as Jor-el
Looking through the archives here on CBM, It was reported in May 2023That James Gunn was approaching one of his guards of the Galaxy Vol. 3 actors for the role of Lex Luthor.
At the time, many fans hypothesized that it was Will Poulter, who played Adam Warlock in the photo, but Gunn has now confirmed that it was the actor of the Rocket Say voice, Bradley Cooper.
Appearing on the Podcast Happy Sad Confused, Gunn explained why he finally decided not to go with Cooper.
“”I spoke to Bradley,“Said Gunn, admitting that he first approached Cooper for the role of Lex Luthor.
He continued, “But I wanted Lex to be someone who was more contemporary with [David’s] Superman … I didn’t write it with an age [in mind] But I think Lex Luthor is important for Superman, and I think it is important for the future of the DC universe and I thought it was better [to go with Nick] But yes, Bradley would have been a large lex. Bradley is great in everything.“”
Of course, Bradley Cooper was then interpreted as Jor-El in the film, and we may see him in the future Superman payments.
While the interview continued, Gunn was asked about the chances of knowing if he was never considered so that Lex Luthor adapts like Iron Man of Tony Stark and was fighting with the steel man in person.

Gunn then confirms that he never included the war costume in the script, and there has never been a physical confrontation between Lex and Superman planned. Apparently, it’s saving for future films.
Lex Luthor’s green and purple war suit serves as his ultimate weapon in his battles against Superman. Designed to increase its physical capacities, the costume grants superhuman strength, improved flight and durability through advanced armor and energy shields.
What makes it particularly dangerous is its Kryptonite -based weapons and its high -power energy systems, which allow Luthor to exploit Superman’s greatest vulnerability. Although the costume gives Luthor the means to fight on an equal footing, it remains an element of technology, which means that Superman can always master it in the right conditions.
However, for anyone other than Superman, the tank of the tank transforms Luthor into a mastered physical rival which launches the brute force and has a brilliant strategic spirit to challenge the different heroes of DC Comics in a way that few bad guys can.
