Bowlers MI expected to retain for IPL 2026

When it comes to the IPL 2026 retention list, MI is not expected to face a big challenge in selecting their core group of bowlers.

As the date for announcing IPL 2026 retentions gets closer, fans’ curiosity is only increasing. MI had a decent season in 2025, where they made the playoffs, but just couldn’t go the distance. This time around, they will get the chance to make amends in the IPL 2026 auction. But before that, they need to establish a retention list, which keeps their core intact.

InsideSport takes a look at the list of bowlers MI should retain ahead of the IPL 2026 auction.

Bowlers MI expected to retain ahead of IPL Auction 2026

Jasprit Bumrah: There is no doubt that the team would want and should retain the best bowler in the world. In 145 matches, he has picked up 183 wickets and is an invaluable asset to the team.

Trent Boult: 16 matches and 22 wickets; the New Zealander should definitely be in the scheme of things for MI going forward.

Ashwani Kumar: This youngster from Kerala was very impressive in his debut season and took 11 wickets. We should give him a longer rope.

Vignesh Puthur: Another such player, of course of different styles, was Puthur. The wrist player played a few matches at first but impressed everyone.

Mitchell Santner: He is also considered an all-rounder, but let’s just keep him for his bowling abilities. He picked up 10 wickets and had an economy rate of less than 8, which is excellent.
