Bobby Jenks, former White Sox launcher, who died after the Battle of Cancer

The world of baseball is crying a star.

Robert “Bobby” JenksA double star launcher for the Chicago White Sox, died in Portugal July 4 after a battle with stadium stomach cancer, confirmed the team. He was 44 years old.

“We have lost an emblematic member of the White Sox family,” said White Sox president Jerry Reinsdorf said in A July 4 Declaration published by the organization. “None of us will never forget the ninth round of match 4 in Houston, all that Bobby did for the champions of the World Series 2005 and for the entire Sox organization during his stay in Chicago.”

“He and his family knew that cancer would be his most difficult battle, and we will miss as husband, father, friend and teammate,” he continued. “It will forever hold a special place in all our hearts.”

Jenks – who played for the White Sox from 2005 to 2010 and the Boston Red Sox in 2011 – approved his strength on and off the field with his relatives.
