Toronto – Alejandro Kirk dominated twice and the Blue Jays of Toronto beat the New York 10-1 Yankees on Saturday in the first match of the American League division series.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. had three shots, including a Homer, added a sacrificial fly, while Nathan Lukes had three points produced to help the Blue Jays in their first victory in the playoffs since 2016.
Aaron’s judge succeeded two strokes for the Yankees, but was withdrawn with the bases loaded in the sixth.
Guerrero struck his first circuit in the career playoffs with two to the first against Luis Gil (0-1), a left shot on a 2-1 change.
In the second, Guerrero was a defensively factor. He took the Ryan McMahon fracture line player and walked first for a double end of the round game.
Kirk led the second house with his first circuit in career playoffs when he launched a quick bullet at the first step on the left.
Tim Hill replaced Gil after the single of two Guerrero outputs in the third and allowed Addison Barger’s inner blow before finishing the Channel. Gil granted two points, four strokes without walking and two stick withdraws in 2 2/3 rounds.
Lukes took a diving before slipping on the line of the right field to fly Jazz Chisholm Jr. suddenly in the fifth.
The Yankees loaded the basics with none in the sixth on the double top of Anthony Volpe on the wall of the left field, the simple of Austin Wells and the Stent Grisham walk. The judge struck before Cody Bellinger’s walk finished a race. Louis Varland replaced Kevin Gausman (1-0) with two outings and withdrew Giancarlo Stanton.
Gausman gave a point, four strokes and two goals on bullets with three stick withdrawals in 5 2/3 rounds.
Serrantony Dominguez replaced Varland in the seventh after a single from McMahon.
Luke Weaver walked on Daulton Varsho to direct the seventh of Toronto. Anthony Santander and Gimenez chose to mark a race. Fernando Cruz replaced Weaver. Pinch Runner Myles Straw was forced in third row at the blow of Ernie Clement and George Springer to load the basics. Lukes aligned a double of two points on the right and Guerrero struck a sacrifice fly in the center for a 6-1 lead.
Brendon Little launched the double of the judge in the eighth.
Kirk led the eighth eighth with a circuit against Paul Blackburn. Gimenez added a double RBI, Clement had a sacrificial fly and Lukes contributed a simple RBI.
