Blow for BCCI while South Africa Cricket takes a difficult position on IPL 2026 Extension

The extension of the Premier League Indian season (IPL) 2025 due to the Indo-Pak conflict led to a big headache for franchises. Although the message from the Cricket Control Council in India (BCCI) is to recover all the players abroad for the resumption of the League, the South Africa Cricket told its players to return home on May 26, as is the initial agreement when the IPL final was to be held on May 25.
The tastes of Corbin Bosch (Mumbai Indians), Wiaan Mulder (Sunrisers Hyderabad), Marco Jansen (Punjab Kings), Aiden Markram (Lucknow Supergiants), Lungi Ngidi (Royal Challengers Bengaluru), Kagiso Rabad (Delhi Capitles) were all named in the WTC team announced on 13 may.
According to the initial agreement, the BCCI is supposed to publish all players abroad on May 26. But, like the revised calendar, even the campaign League would not end before May 27, while the final is June 03.
“The initial agreement with the IPL and the BCCI was with the final being on (May), our players would come back on the 26th, so that it allows them to make themselves full before flying on the 30th. Nothing has changed from our point of view,” said South Africa, Shukri Conrad on Tuesday.
“These are the in progress conversations that have been between people in a higher remuneration note than me, that is to say the Director of Cricket (Enoch NKWE) and Pholetssi Moseki (CEO of CSA), so they are dealing with this.
“We are still in discussion with IPL & BCCI,” Cicbuzz Enoch Nkwe, director of the CSA of Cricket, told Cricbuzz.
However, some IPL franchises could continue to take advantage of the services of South African players who are not part of the final of the world testing championship against Australia. These proteas stars are:
Dewald Brevis (a response player at Chennai Super Kings), Fif Dupless and Donnvan Ferreira (Delhi Capitals), Gerald Coetzee (Gujarat Titas), Quinton de Kock and Anrich Nortje (Kolkata Knight Riders), David Miller, Matthew Breetzke (Lucknow Super Gians Maphaka, Lhuan (Rajasthan Royals) and Heinrich Klaan (Senrisers Hyderasers Hyderabad).
The WTC end players were invited to meet in Arundel (a city in England) on May 31. It was at this time that the selected players will play a warm -up match against Zimbabwe from June 3 to 6 before going to London on June 7, with the WTC final to start on June 11.
