Blog of the week 1: Ramsey likes the game
A love for the game: Steelers fans will have their long -awaited first overview of the DK Metcalf recipient on Sunday when the Steelers face the New York Jets at the Metlife Stadium, and he cannot wait.
Metcalf said he had no concern about the possibility of going out and starting quickly despite not playing in the pre-season and that he is looking forward to.
“I am very impatient because I have not played football since January,” said Metcalf. “Another reason why I am ready to go out on the field, but also to see all my new teammates so that they can get used to me on Sunday, on match days and vice versa. So, simply excited all around.”
Metcalf, the quarter-Arrière Aaron Rodgers and the tight winger Jonnu Smith are all new arrivals from the team this year who have not played in pre-season, but going against the daily life of the Steelers Defense has ready to leave for week 1.
“Going against this defense will certainly prepare you for that,” said Metcalf. “But also to ensure that we are in the form of football. Take these representatives seriously in training, always finish in the goal area, finish the representative, then use them as a game representatives.”
His relationship with Rodgers began to develop when he arrived in Pittsburgh, and his goal is to deliver it whenever the ball presents.
“Playing with a golden jacket, the quarter of the renowned temple of his caliber, I have to catch him for him because he saw a lot of ball,” said Metcalf. “I know that I am a hard worker, and vice versa on his side. I’m just ready to put a product on the ground”
Metcalf’s report with Rodgers is an attacking coordinator Arthur Smith does not have to worry, because the two have spent a lot of time establishing this connection in recent months.
“Our signaling, the way we see the game,” said Metcalf on how it works for them. “Start having an idea of what he is going to do in the melee line, if he wants to make a check or not. And then just the type of throw he does in some blankets.”
When Metcalf was acquired by the Steelers in March of Seattle Seahawks, he did not come with preconceived ideas of what things were going to be.
He just came to do what he likes most.
And it’s playing football.
“I’m just happy to play football,” said Metcalf. “The fact of being here in this organization which won six Super Bowls. Just trying to meet the expectations they have already established here and the standard they have here.”
This standard is something that Metcalf should not have a problem to live.
In six seasons, it appeared in 97 games, starting 93 of them, and 438 receptions for 6,324 yards, an average of 14.4 yards and 48 affected, which rank in the eighth among the players active in the NFL. He touched by more than 70 yards, including a touch of 84 yards in a career.
Metcalf has 15 games of 100 yards, including one against the Steelers in 2023, and a career summit of 177 yards against the Eagles of Philadelphia in 2020. He also has two games of 100 yards in the playoffs. In addition, he has three seasons of 1,000 yards and has 13 sockets of 50 or more yards in his career, which ranks seventh among active receivers.
Metcalf was an All-Pro selection from the second All-Pro team in 2020 and a selection of twice pro Bowl in 2020 and 2023.
When he was asked if he had the impression that he should prove something at the NFL after being exchanged, he quickly clearly indicated that this was not the case.
“I have nothing to prove to anyone,” said Metcalf. “I just like to play football. That’s it.”
