Biden celebrates the day of transgender visibility, calls “ Maga ‘extremists’ ”

President Joe Biden on Friday published a statement celebrating the day of transgender visibility and applauding the bravery of trans persons in the face of the threats of “Maga extremists” who push the “hateful and extreme laws of the state”.

Biden also took advantage of the opportunity to emphasize how these persistent attacks exacerbate the country’s mental health crisis, which is particularly acute among young trans.

“The day of transgender visibility, we celebrate the strength, the joy and the absolute courage of some of the most courageous people I know,” said Biden. “Transgender Americans deserve to be safe and supported in all communities – but today, through our country, Maga extremists advance hundreds of hateful and extreme state laws that target transgender children and their families.”

Noting that more than half of young transgender people say they have seriously planned to commit suicide, the president also announced a program to add LGBTQ + advisers dedicated to national suicide prevention and the crisis hotline.

Trans young people who need help can deal with 988 to reach the hotline and press “3” to speak with one of the trained professionals.

“We will never stop working to create a world where everyone can live without fear,” continued Biden. “Where parents, teachers and entire communities meet to support children, no matter how they identify; And each child is surrounded by compassion and love.

“I want each member of the Trans community to know that we see you. You are each made in the image of God and deserve love, dignity and respect. You make America stronger, and we are with you. ”
