The Austin FC striker Brandon Vazquez will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL on the right knee, the team announced on Thursday.

The 26 -year -old striker suffered the injury in Tuesday evening’s victory against San Jose earthquakes in the quarter -finals of the US Open Cup.

Vazquez will undergo surgery in the coming days and will then immediately start the rehabilitation process, the team said.

“We all at Austin FC are devastated to learn this injury to Brandon, who turned out to be a crucial player for us on the field since his arrival,” said sports director Rodolfo Borrell. “We will be with him at each stage of the rehabilitation process.”
