Better chance of storm at the start of this week, may damage the winds and sudden floods in the triad

Dispersed storms could bring heavy rain and wind

It is not surprising that we have obtained nearly six inches of rain at PTI airport so far during the month of July at the first 13 days, almost six inches of rain. It’s quite impressive. It is actually our third wet start in July recorded here in the triad, with about four inches of rain more than what we normally have at this stage of the month. We don’t really need rain, but again, unfortunately, we are stuck in this model with a daily chance for the afternoon showers and storms. In fact, today, I expect a slight better blanket of showers and storms probably still dispersed, but better compared to previous days. And then Tuesday and Wednesday, they will be even more widespread. These two days. Probably our best chance for showers and storms this week. Thus, a greater number of storms in the coming days means a greater risk of this. Sudden floods isolated just because of the amount of rain that we recently obtained, we cannot really take much more. So, for today, mountains and buttresses, the surrounding areas in green, you see here with a marginal level 1 of sudden flood. But the areas that were soaked last week by Chantal, then this strong precipitation event last Wednesday had a greater risk. The triad, other parts of the Piedmont to the triangle in yellow here with a risk of two sudden floods later today. This is something that we will have to keep an eye on. We will also have to monitor an isolated, strong or severe storm. Really, any storm this afternoon or in the evening which appears east of the mountains could become strong to severe. Strong rains in these harmful downhill winds. We saw it in Winston the other day, then yesterday in the Greensboro region, the big one like throwing a bucket of wind on the surface from these thunderstorms can drop the trees and cause power outages. It is therefore something that we will also have to monitor today. All this to say, today, it is a day of weather impact for a slightly larger chance of a few showers and storms this afternoon, and the fact that some could be on the strongest side. So stay aware. Have a way to get weather alerts and keep an eye on the radar later today for these pop-up showers and storms. Fortunately, things are quite calm this morning. We have the middle and the top of the 60s to the west. It is warmer and softer here in the Piedmont. Low 70s. Perhaps a limited couple for the Greensboro region, but most, otherwise all of us are dry during lunch. At the start of the afternoon today, a few isolated showers or storms will start to appear, but it should be quite isolated early in the late afternoon then throughout the evening. It is at this point that we have better chance for showers and storms, and some of them could even linger in night hours and pour heavy rain into the same areas. This is what we really monitor. With this risk of sudden isolated floods. It’s a hot day nearly 90 this afternoon with this best chance of showers and storms at the end of the afternoon throughout the evening. It is also time for foothills nearly 90. With these storms that appear around the middle of the afternoon and for the low mountains of the 80s. Nice and hot later this afternoon with a few showers and storms. Do not forget to keep the rainy vehicles ready in case you get one in the coming days. A good widespread coverage of showers and storms expected Tuesday and Wednesday. As well as this unstable summer model continues. Quick update on the tropics for you here. Always looking at this disturbance near this yellow X, it should cross Florida and move west in the north of the Gulf over the next two days. From there, it will turn on hot waters and could gain tropical characteristics, but that should move away from the west of the Carolines along the Gulf coast. Good news there. Good luck with showers and St
