Reijnders a key element in the reconstruction of the city
Kevin de Bruyne having left, Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva both on the wrong side of 30 and Rodri temporarily recovering from a long -term cross -ligament injury, the city needs fresh blood in the center of the field.
They signed Nico Gonzalez de Porto in January and, although he did not have an immediate impact, he should be among the three centrals in the future.
Reijnders is more a box-to-box player, as evidenced by his 15 goals for Milan last season.
City will seek to conclude the agreement in time so that the Reijnders join the team for the Club World Cup which begins at the end of next week.
The side of Guardiola was drawn in group G alongside Al Ain, Wydad Casablanca and Juventus.
