J. Crew brings their roller sweater to a new younger generation. The brand belonging to Gap celebrates 40 years of their emblematic silhouette with a new campaign, Out Today, featuring a range of the hottest stars of Gen Z today.
In retro imaging, preppy and sports, Benito Skinner, Molly Gordon, Maggie Rogers, Dominic SESSSA, Lukita Maxwell, Rome Flynn and Taylour Paige-Angulo wear marine, red and gray versions of the basic hats and basic jeans in jeans in jeans. This fall, the sweater will return in 27 colors and patterns available in male, female and crew adjustments. You can buy some of the new colors already on jcrew.com.
“Rollneck is an icon of our brand: it is a timeless piece that represents the classic American style, but is sufficiently diversified to be worn and stylized in so many different ways,” said Julia Collier, CMO of J.Crew, in a press release. “We wanted to celebrate this through this distribution of characters who individually represent the many facets of our heritage: classic, preparation, country, collegial and redefine what these things mean for a new generation of Americans.”
The Gen Z targeted campaign marks the latest quarter of strategic work that J. Crew has made to integrate the brand more deeply in pop culture while remaining faithful to their inheritance. Under the CEO Libby Wadle and the creative director Olympia Gayot, he revived his classic Americaa and Preppy style through capsules with entities like The New Yorker (for his 100th anniversary), American Olympic teams and “The Bear” from FX.
