Beloved prison drama series is leaving Netflix very soon

Every month, a host of new TV shows and movies are available to Netflix users. Unfortunately, it also works the other way around, and several excellent films and series end up leaving the streaming platform at regular intervals. For this reason, it’s worth paying attention to the status of particular items on your viewing list at any given time – and that goes double if you’re only now discovering a great series that’s on Netflix but is soon about to leave the streamer’s lineup.

With that in mind, it’s /Film’s duty to inform you that one of the best prison dramas on the small screen, “Prison Break,” is available on Netflix…but not for long. Paul Scheuring’s Fox crime series is set to leave the platform on January 29, 2026. If you weren’t aware of its availability or were currently watching the series, that means you don’t have much time to devour its five seasons. Then again, what is 90 episodes, when you really think about it? After all, January is the perfect month for a nostalgic watch.

Netflix viewers loved Prison Break

If you have no idea what “Prison Break” is, there will be no spoilers here. This is a show you should watch with as little information as possible, considering how ridiculously far it is willing to push its narrative. Suffice to say that the series focuses on two brothers played by Dominic Purcell and Wentworth Miller. They’re surrounded by a cast featuring some of Hollywood’s best actors – think Peter Stormare, William Fichtner, etc. – and a prison escape is indeed a factor in the plot. Other than that, well… do your best to suspend your disbelief, because the ride is about to get bumpy.

“Prison Break” thrived on Netflix’s top charts when it entered the streamer’s September 2024 selection. It’s no wonder, either, because the series is truly an extremely fun watch — even Stephen King was obsessed with the crime thriller at one point. Beyond entertainment, there is also the question of preparing for the future. A reboot of “Prison Break” has been in the works for a while now, so if you’ve been meaning to catch up on the story so far, there’s still time.

Once again, “Prison Break” is streaming on Netflix until January 29, 2026.
