Belgian GP: Oscar Piastri at the head of the only training session as Lando Norris unable to match the pace of McLaren teammate | F1 News

The world championship leader, Oscar Piastri, dominated the only training session at the Belgian Grand Prix while his teammate and his Rival of the title McLaren, Lando Norris, was out of pace in third.
In a frantic final of the session, the majority of the land, equipped soft tires for the first time with about 10 minutes to play, Piastri has clearly become the fastest during its first round before finding another tenth with a later effort of 1: 42.022.
Norris, who drags Piastri with eight points at the top of the ranking while the season enters the second half, was a complete second behind his teammate after making a mistake on his first flying round, but half reduced the deficit during his next race to go to the third.
McLaren seems to have a clear advantage over their rivals by qualifying for sprint later Friday, but Max Verstappen took advantage of the Tremblant start of Norris to take second place in his improved Red Bull, four tenths of Piastri.
George Russell finished fourth while Mercedes chose not to manage the soft tire, rather making their qualification simulations on the average compound, with Kimi Antonelli in the other arrow of silver.
The main Ferrari upgrade package does not seem to have immediately had a lot of impact because Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton were respectively fifth and seventh.
After two weekends after the British Grand Prix, the majority of the land brought what could be their last major upgrades of the season in Belgium – with the packages of Red Bull and Ferrari seem to be greater than the other leading teams.
All eyes were on the Red Bull Pit wall during the first race since Christian Horner was dismissed as team director after more than 20 years at the helm.
Laurent Mekies, the replacement of Horner as team director and managing director, supervised the operations while Verstappen continued to impress while teammate Yuki Tsunoda fought in P14.
