The animated mini -series of Patrick Mchale “Over the Garden Wall” was presented on Cartoon Network in 2014. Eerie and perfect for an annual fall watch, in the years which followed its broadcast, it has become canonized as a modern classic – with its singular, friendly aesthetic characters and a wonderful animation.
And nobody has kept the flame “Over the Garden Wall” burning just like Mondo, who published the soundtrack as luxury vinyl and which is now launching a series of figures – the first set, based on the first episode of the series, is available in pre -order now. There will also be more sets in the future. While Mchale joked, “the wait is over. After years and years of complaint, fans can finally get their hands on a Larry skeleton figurine!”
We spoke to the Mondo and Mchale team of these new figures, including information on future sets.
“There was not many merch for the garden wall ” in his early years, so it is remarkable to see wonderful collectibles coming out all these years later,” Mchale told Thewrap. “It is particularly exciting to see how Mondo explores the series episodically, with memorable bits of specific animated episodes as vinyl figures.”
“Everyone in Mondo is so huge fans of this incredible series. Figures are the first figures under license to go out for the garden wall ”, however, Mondo has a long story of being at the forefront of the celebration of this amazing property in the form of vinyl records and artistic prints,” said Hector Arce, Mondo Sr. Director, Creative and Development of Products.
“Entering the figures was the next step to fully celebrate” OTGW “here in Mondo, now in all our main categories. We are so huge fans of Patrick Mchale and the wonderful world that he created, we are delighted and honored that he digs what we have done with this set of figures.”
From the first set, Mchale noted: “I am very excited to get my hands on the dog with beautiful eyes. I am also very intrigued to see which other characters specific to the episodes that Mondo could explore in the future.”
And speaking of future exploration, in San Diego Comic-Con earlier this year, there were additional figures in chapter 2 of the series, “Hard Times at the Huskin ‘Bee”. It is true – all these pumpkins come in a good life and will soon be ready for your shelves. But Arce has teased that there are also additional elements for the first series of figures.
“Another fun aspect that we add is that the whole chapter 2 will be delivered with accessories that you can add to the first set composed of Wirt and Greg. Fun things like the pumpkins on which they walk, the ball and the chains when they are trapped to do “manual work”. Even a funny little Beatrice with a ball and a chain all come in this set, allowing fans to continue adding to their collection unique, “he said. “After that, we hope that we can produce each chapter in the series, approaching all the incredible moments of the show.”
