First look at the science fiction thriller of “the astronaut” with Kate Mara & Fishburne

What has she brought back? Signature Entertainment revealed a first look promo for a film entitled The astronautA science fiction thriller by filmmaker Jessica Varley, making her director’s debut. It is on VOD now in the United Kingdom (but only there). It is not exactly the most original idea – it looks like so many other science fiction thrillers before. After his return from his first space mission, the astronaut Sam Walker is placed under NASA care in a high security house for rehabilitation and isolated medical tests in the woods. However, when disturbing occurrences are starting to happen around the property, it fears that something extraterrestrial has followed it to Earth. Is it real or is it just in his head? With Kate Mara As Sam, Laurence Fishburne,, Gabriel Luna,, Ivana Militiavic& Macy Gray. This was initially presented at the SXSW 2025 film festival earlier this year. He came out in the United Kingdom directly at VOD from today (September 22) but still has not yet exit in the United States. Not a good sign for this one, despite the interesting premise, it seems that it is a failure (the critics say the same thing). It is a frightening way to present the film – be careful if you are curious.

It is produced by Brad Fuller, Eric B. Fleischman, Chris Abernathy, Cameron Fuller. This was initially presented at the Film Festival SXSW 2025 earlier this year. Signature ENT will publish Varley The astronaut Film in the UK direct-to-back on September 22, 2025. No American version is yet defined – stay listening.
