BCCI provides massive relief to franchises with a change of rule for IPL 2025: Report

The Indian Premier League (IPL) will allow franchises to sign temporary replacement players for the rest of the 18th season. However, these players will remain unacceptable to detention before the next auction, according to Espncricinfo. IPL 2025 will resume on May 17 after the BCCI announced a suspension of a week last Friday due to cross -border tensions between India and Pakistan. On Monday, the Indian Cricket Board of Directors announced a new calendar. According to the new dates, the tournament will end on June 3 instead of May 25.

After the revised dates, several players abroad return to India to participate in the rest of the tournament. At the same time, some got out, including the striker to open the capitals of Delhi, Jake Fraser-McGurk and Chennai Super Kings, Jamie Overton.

According to Espncricinfo, IPL regulations allow teams to sign replacements in the event of illness or injury, provided that happens during or before their 12th game of the season. However, the League has taken the call to modify the rules, which allowed the franchises to sign temporary replacements for the reorganized season.

The IPL informed the franchises of the “ reassessment ” of the replacement rules in a memo, which was read as cited by Espncricinfo, “given the non-depurbability of certain foreign players due to national commitments or personal reasons or injury or illness, temporary replacement players will be authorized until the conclusion of this tournament.”

“This decision is subject to the condition that the temporary replacement players taken from this point in advance will not be eligible for detention the following year.

The IPL also said that replacements before the league suspension remain eligible for retention before the next season of the league rich in cash. Four signatures were carried out 48 hours before a week’s suspension of the tournament, with Sediqulah Atal (Capitals de Delhi), Mayank Agarwal (Royal Challengers Bengaluru), Lhuan-dre Pretorius and Nandre Burger (both Rajasthan Royals).
