BBC to launch the Podcast Daily News ‘The Global Story’

The BBC makes a new piece for eager listeners with “The Global Story”, a daily podcast focused on the intersection of the news “where the world and the United States meet”.
“The Global Story” should make its debut on September 3, with episodes that released every morning from Monday to Friday. The podcast will be available in the United Kingdom on BBC Sounds and outside the United Kingdom on BBC.com, the BBC application and audio platforms, including Spotify and Apple Podcasts. Bbc.com last month established a new paid wall for American users who wish unlimited access to the site; However, Americans will be able to listen to the podcast for free (and others from the BBC).
The new daily podcast will be co-organized by Asma Khalid (based in Washington, DC), the former correspondent of the White House NPR, and Tristan Redman, former international journalist in Al Jazeera (based in London). Annie Brown, a former senior producer of the New York Times, also joined the “The Global Story” team.
“World History”, the BBC World Service and the BBC Studios, “reflects the continuous commitment of the BBC to develop its international audience”, according to the broadcaster. At NPR, Khalid has covered American policy in the last decade and she has been co-host of the “political podcast NPR”. Redman, who has two decades of global international reporting with Al Jazeera, welcomed the Wondery and Pineapple Studios Story and Pineapple Studios.
The podcast will join the existing Podcasts range of the BBC World Service, including the daily radio programs “Newshour” and the “Podcast Global News”, which provides Breaking-News updates.
“I have spent years covering American politics and I am more convinced than ever that we need a program like this – which plunges into news, stories and global problems – in order to connect points in our strange political era,” Khalid said in a statement. Redman said: “As a American -British journalist, I could not be more excited to tell stories about the interaction between America and the world. From my career in the field, I saw the first hand that American actions have global consequences. Asma and I will give meaning to all this – supported by the best editorial room of the company.”
Jon Zilkha, BBC World Service English controller, added: “The perspective provided by” The Global Story “and its ASMA and Tristan hosts, is essential in the rapidly evolving political landscape in which we live. I am delighted that we can share it with listeners in September. ”
