Banijay America Taps Santiago Zapata

To Fábrica Mexico City of Banijay Americas and US Hispanic called on the producer, writer, executive, executive Santiago Zapata for the post of scripted vice-president. The new label, a partnership formed between Endemol Shine Boomdog and A Fábrica from Brazil was founded in January in order to focus on the production of more scripted content for the Mexican, Latin and American Historic and American markets.
Zapata, who will supervise all the scripted development and production of the label based in Mexico City, joins Ntertain Studios / Neon16, founded by the former CEO of Sony Music Entertainment, Tommy Mottola and Lex Borrero, where he directed Miami’s film and television division.
At Ntetain Studios / Neon16, he developed a list of films, original series, documentaries and brand alliances for American and Latin America. These include collaborations with luminaires such as Will Smith, Thalia and Big Sean.
He was recently showrunner on the Disney + “Los Montaner” series for two seasons, wrote and produced “La Firma” by Netflix and “Thalia’s Mixtape” from Netflix, and currently produces and produces a long documentary on Mottola, the legendary music producer who signed and promoted talents such as Mariah Carey, Shakire Jackson others.

Zapata, born in Oakland, California, takes control of the responsibilities of Jerry Rodriguez who recently anchored. As a writer and producer, his most notable credits include “The Boy” (2015), with Elijah Wood Spectrevision, “City of Dead Men” (2016), distributed by Gravitas Ventures and “Monos” (2019), crowned for the 2020 Academy Awards and Goya-Nomined.

The appointment of Zapata occurs last month on the news of last month about Endemolshine Boomdog, led by CEO Alejandro Rincón which supervises the new label, and Banijay Entertainment which concluded a new agreement with the writer and producer Leonardo Padrón to launch Leonardo Padrón Productions.
The new company will focus on premium content and will associate with a Fábrica Mexico & Us Hispanic to deliver a list of projects defined by a separate narration. Several dramatic series scripted in Spanish language are already in development for the public in the United States, Mexico and Latin America, the first titles which should make their debut later this year.
