Avalanche Nelson sign | Colorado Avalanche

The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced today that the organization had signed forward BROCK Nelson to a three-year contract extension until the 2027-28 season.
Nelson, 33, was initially acquired in a business with the New York Icelanders on March 6, 2025 and appeared in 19 regular season games for the avalanche, recording 13 points (6g / 7a). Since its beginnings in Colorado on March 8, Nelson has completed the ranking of the regular season equally in the third place on the AVS and equally in fifth place in this period. He put his 300th Career objective in an afternoon of two goals in Los Angeles (April 12) to become the 28th American nationality player to compile 300 career goals. The Centerman also collected four assists (0g / 4A) during the seven eliminatory games of the Stanley of the AVS Cup.
The 6 -foot 4 -inch and 205 pound attacker recorded 56 points (26g / 30A) combined with 80 regular season games as a member of the avalanche and the Islanders in 2024-25 – his fourth consecutive season of at least 20 goals and 50 points. At the time of trade, Nelson shared the Icelanders-Lead in assists (23) and points (43), ranked second in goals and punctuated the club with six winning accounts. Nelson adapted in his 900th Career game on March 3.
Originally from Warroad, Minn., Nelson was a member of the United States team during the 2025 4 nations confrontation in February, appearing in the four games (0G / 0A) for the stars and stripes that finished as the second in the tournament.
“We are delighted to have concluded an agreement with Brock to keep it in Colorado for the next three seasons,” said Avalanche Director of the Avalanche Chris MacFarland. “It has been a large center of this league for a long time, and it provides professionalism and devoted work ethics out of the ice. We think it will be very suitable and will be a stabilizing presence in our second line central role with its size and ability to reach all areas of ice.
“My family and I are delighted to stay in Colorado,” said Nelson. “Having spent my entire career with a single organization, we did not completely know what to expect when we arrived in Denver. But we have the opportunity to play for the avalanche, to compete with a large group of teammates in this locker room, and in front of the huge fans of Ball Arena, we knew that it was where we wanted to stay.
“I would like to thank the Kroenke family, Joe Sakic, Chris Macfarland, Jared Bednar and our coach staff for the opportunity. Obviously, the way the season ended last year was disappointing, but I can’t wait to come back to the ice soon and continue to push for our goal of winning the Stanley Cup.”
Entering his 13th The NHL season, Nelson compiled 587 points (301 g / 286a) in 920 career games in regular season with the Icelanders and Avalanche. The Centerman also added 54 points (27g / 27a) in 85 series of the Stanley Cup eliminations. Nelson posted career costs in assists (39), points (75) and winning goals (8) in 2022-2010 and was appointed to the NHL Stars match this season. The total of 36 goals was a less of his personal record in 2021-2022 when he contributed 59 points for the islands. Nelson entered 2025-26 with three career seasons of 30 goals (2021-24) and six career campaigns on recording at least 50 points. Included in Nelson’s 85 appearances in the playoffs, he established high career highs in playoffs in matches played (22), goals (9) and decisive passes (9) in 2020 to help New York reach its first appearance in the final of the Eastern Conference since the 1992-1993 campaign. He shared the team’s head in the winning goals and accounts (3) this playoff series, and finished second in points. Nelson collected 12 points (7g / 5A) in 19 games in the following qualifying series to help the Icelanders finish as one of the last four teams that remained for the second consecutive season.
Eight of the 12 regular Nelson career seasons saw him dress in all possible matches that year, while his 82 projections in 2017-18 shared the league chief. Its 246 consecutive games played enter this season in equality for the 18 NHLth-The long sequence of active “Iron Man”.
Initially written in the first round (30th Overall) by the Icelanders in the NHL 2010 NTH draft, Nelson appeared in 71 regular seasonal games with the AHL Bridgeport Sound Tigers on certain parts of the 2011-14 campaigns and collected 53 points (25g / 28a). Before becoming a pro, he competed for the University of North Dakota for two seasons (2010-12) and ended his collegial career with 68 points (36 g / 32a) in 84 competitions.
On an international scene, Nelson also participated in the American team of the IIHF World Championship on five distinct occasions (2014-17 and 2024) and won bronze in 2015. In addition, he captured bronze in the 2011 World Junior Championship.
