Following a clip by Jayne shares, “I use my pin-up advertising to put my foot in the door”, Mariska alludes to the heritage of Jayne’s sexual symbol as she explains: “Her career made me want to do it differently. But I want to understand it now.”
The trailer ends with the global theme of the documentary, where Mariska declares: “Reclaiming My Family Story – that’s what it is for me, because it is part of me. I want to know her under the name of Jayne, my mother Jayne.”
Mariska initially announced the documentary on April 8, where she wrote in a press release: “This film is a work of love and desire. It is a search for the mother that I have never known, an integration of a part of myself that I had never possessed, and a recovery of the story of my mother and my own truth.”
