England express pacer Wood has confirmed that he will not play in the five Tests of the Ashes series. “Certainly not the five (Tests)”, said Wood, acknowledging his limited involvement in the series. “I think it depends; review it after every game.” he added. Wood was nursing hamstring issues that occurred in the warm-up match against England Lions before the Ashes, but he was eventually cleared to play. This is Wood’s first test since the Manchester Test in August against Sri Lankaafter which he was sidelined with an elbow injury. His recovery included a return to international cricket in white-ball matches, but a knee problem in the ICC Champions Trophy ruled him out for the next four months, making his role in the Ashes uncertain.
