ATP Paris Day 3 Predictions Including Zverev vs. Ugo Carabelli

Defending champion Alexander Zverev begins his title defense at the ATP Paris Masters with a second-round match against clay-court specialist Camilo Ugo Carabelli. Will the German start with a victory?
ATP Paris Day 3 Predictions
Casper Ruud vs. Daniel Altmaier
Face to face: Square 1-0 Altmaier
Casper Ruud was uncomfortable during the quarter-final match against Davidovich Fokina in Basel. He had played a set, which he lost in the tie-break, and was having problems with his foot. He was unable to finish the match and his injury was later confirmed to be an ankle problem. How quickly he recovers will be crucial to his chances of winning his second Masters title and potentially qualifying for the ATP Finals in Turin. A healthy Ruud should overtake Altmaier, whose opening win over Marcos Giron barely masks his recent three-fight losing streak.
Prediction: Ruud in 2
Miomir Kecmanovic vs. Francisco Cerundolo
Face to face: Cerundolo 2-0 Kecmanovic
Cerundolo has a 61% win rate in 2025, which is his highest in a single season. One more win would equal the 38 victories he recorded two years ago, and the 27-year-old is within striking distance of joining the Top 20. But the second half of the season has been largely disappointing for the Argentine, whose deepest run was the ATP 250 semi-final in Bastad. For comparison, Kecmanovic has won two main draw matches since his quarterfinal in Winston-Salem in August. One of them was in this week’s opening win over Kovacevic. This is a match that Cerundolo should dictate on his terms with his forehand acceleration among the best on tour.
Prediction: Cerundolo in 3

Alex de Minaur vs. Gabriel Diallo
Face to face: De Minaur 1-0 Diallo
On paper, it’s a tough opening match for Alex de Minaur, who must win to keep up with the chasing pack in qualifying for the ATP Finals. Gabriel Diallo is a perennial danger on this surface with his huge serve and explosive power. But his level has dropped noticeably as the season draws to a close. De Minaur has something tangible to chase this week, and the Australian will be fully committed to making it happen.
Prediction: De Minaur in 3
Alexander Zverev vs. Camilo Ugo Carabelli
Face to face: Zverev 1-0 Ugo Carabelli
Last season, Alexander Zverev won this tournament without facing a single seed. The German is unlikely to have that luxury this week, with the world’s two best players committed to playing in Paris. He has a nice draw to begin his title defense. Camilo Ugo Carabelli plays his best tennis on clay, where he has won over 200 competitive matches. On indoor hard courts, he has a lifetime record of 2-3, although he notched an impressive straight-sets victory over compatriot Tomas Martin Etcheverry in the first round. This is a match that should give Zverev enough momentum to try and adapt to the new venue and surface.
Prediction: Zverev in 2
