Athena and Baby Bobby, Eddie de Ryan Guzman

Spoiler alert: This story contains spoilers for the final episode of season 8 of Thursday of “9-1-1” on ABC.
The final of the eighth season of “9-1-1” ended with Angela Bassett Athena Grant saying two soft-a-me-to-man words: “Hello Bobby”.
Athena’s remarks were made not to her late husband Bobby Nash (Peter Krause), but to Robert Nash Han – the newborn son of Chimney (Kenneth Choi) and Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt), who was appointed from the recently deceased captain of 118.
This nod to Bobby was far from being the only tribute to the character throughout the final of season 8, entitled “Sismic Shifts”, while the team continued to face the logistical and emotional impact of the sudden death of Bobby there are three episodes.
At the start of the episode, Eddie (Ryan Guzman) should return to Texas to start his new job in El Paso. The team gives her his 118 uniform as a gift during her farewell party, where two big announcements are made: Hen (Aisha Hinds) says she refused the captain now open and Buck (Oliver Stark) put for a transfer outside the station because it is “just a number now” without Bobby.
Meanwhile, Athena is in downtown Los Angeles, calling for a high-rise collapse that occurred before her eyes. The 118 is among the stations sent immediately to help, and Chimney heads to Athena, who alone tries to save several building residents, including “Cart Cop” Graham.
When Eddie sees the situation on television, he catches his uniform and decides to go down to help his old team. “If Bobby taught me something, it is because we always have the choice,” he said before removing a crazy shot to help Buck and delighted (Anirudh Pisharody) saves a man from the building.
Then, the whole crew goes to help Athena and Chimney, who were closed, and put himself in safety a dying Graham. Chimney is able to save Graham and the act helps him and athena to reach a level of peace that they have not felt since Bobby sacrificed himself to save the chimney.
When they come back to the station, Chimney is embraced to give a speech by telling Eddie that he does not move, and that he does not transfer, and that they will all stay together with the family at 118.
“Copy this, Cap. I mean, Chim,” said Hen, alluding to a new role the chimney evening assume next season.
In the last moments of the episode, it is confirmed that Eddie returns to Los Angeles, a point of the intrigue which closes the rumors that have shot in connection with Guzman leaving “9-1-1”. The rest of the final assembly of the final is devoted to Athena by selling the renovated house where she lived with Bobby, Buck in search of a new place, Eddie and Christopher returning to their old place, Hen and Karen adopting Nia, and everyone coming to see Maddie after having his new baby, Bobby.
The final of season 8 “9-1-1” did not include any Flashback Bobby or Ghost Bobby Moments, but the series was renewed for a ninth season in ABC. Fans will therefore have to wait until fall to discover how the team continues to recover from the most important death of the character in the history of the series.
