Astros signs Enyel of Los Santos, designates Luis Contreras for the attribution

The astros signed the right -hander ENYEL DE LOS SANTOS to a major league agreement. Gnar -shaped Nick Hernandez was optionized in Triple-A Sugar Land in a corresponding active list movement. Right Luis Contreras was appointed for the award to open a place of 40 men. Chandler Rome of athletics were one of those who relay movements.
From Los Santos, 29, was appointed for assignment by Atlanta just over a week ago. He had signed a minor league contract with this club in winter and fell for the list of opening days. He launched 43 2/3 rounds this year with an average deserved race of 4.53, a withdrawal rate of 20.1% and a walking rate of 9.5%.
Thanks to these dull results and its status outside the options, it was filed from the list when Atlanta acquired Tyler Kinley Rockies. According to the monitoring of LOS Santos transactions on mlb.com, he erased the exemptions and elected free agency.
Astros probably believe that there is a way to put the right -hander back on the right track of its form before 2024. With Cleveland in 2022 and 2023, it launched 119 rounds with an MPM of 3.18, a withdrawal rate of 25.8% and a walking rate of 8.8%. He won a backup and 19 titles in this period.
Last year, he rebounded around the League and posted a combined MPM of 5.20 for three different clubs, mainly due to an increase in Home Run. He had granted 21 home circuits in his career from 2018 to 2023, but then granted 17 in 2024. These difficulties led him to be not tense by the White Sox, which allowed Atlanta to pick him up in a minor league contract.
Houston will try to help him correct the course. It is out of options, as mentioned, so its grip on a place can be tenuous. However, if things go well and sticks until the end of the year, it could be kept for 2026 via arbitration.
More to come.
