Are you signed up to receive emergency alerts?

Rain is forecast Friday night for Central Texas, ending a drought streak that has lasted more than a month. The CBS Austin Weather Team predicts severe thunderstorms could bring threats of tornadoes, damaging winds, hail and flooding. Some forecast models show nearly 2.5 inches of precipitation for Friday evening. The CBS Austin Weather team says these storms are expected to persist through Saturday morning before calming down Sunday.

With the risk of severe weather, Central Texans can receive alerts to stay informed about natural disasters, weather warnings, evacuation notices and other emergency events. If you are not receiving emergency warnings, you can register on the Warn Central Texas website.
