Former India player Aakash Chopra said Shreyas Iyer is a solid competitor for the next Asia Cup 2025, which should start water on September 9.

The right -handed striker played a decisive role in PBKS reaching the confrontation of the summit. However, Punjab failed in the final, losing against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) of six points. They also missed the opportunity to guarantee their young girl’s title.
The place of Iyer in the national T20i side is in doubt. He played a T20I for the last time in December 2023. The striker scored 1,104 points of 51 T20I games at an average of 30.67 and a typing rate of 136.13, including eight half-century with a better score of 74.

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra spoke of the inclusion of Shreyas Iyer in the Asian Cup team 2025. Chopra also said that Iyer had improved his technique against short balls and presented a powerful blow, describing his overall performance as exceptional.
“This is a phenomenal question. No one answers this question, and everything else is spoken. Of course, you want him to play. The beauty of the Indian cricket is that he has a lot of talent. So many people seem ready that if someone was going to play, he would change the game. Shreyas Iyer can do this,” said Chopra.
“If you see his recent IPL performance, he came after sorting his short ball problem. He opened his position a little and started hitting very well towards Midwicket and a long time. If you leave aside the RCB matches, he was absolutely exceptional. He took the team to the final,” he added.
