James McAvoy and Elliot Page Respond to MCU Reboot Casting Rumors of Colman Domingo and Bella Ramsey

James McAvoy and Elliot Page were part of a X-Men: Days of Future Past Sunday at New York Comic-Con, and both actors shared their thoughts on recent casting rumors surrounding the highly anticipated Marvel Studios film. X-Men restart.
McAvoy played a younger version of Professor Charles Xavier from X-Men: First Class lit, while Page debuted as Kitty Pryde in X-Men 3: The Last Stand before returning (briefly) to share the screen with McAvoy in Days of Future Past.
While we don’t know if there’s any truth to these reports, Colman Domingo and Bella Ramsey are reportedly on Marvel’s radar to potentially take over as Professor X and Shadowcat in the MCU reboot.
"We’re going to see another Charles, another Kitty, probably before too long, maybe," moderator Josh Horowitz told the cast. “Depending on what you read on the Internet, I’ve heard Colman Domingo. I’ve heard Bella Ramsey. I’ve heard a lot of different names. I don’t know if you’re following that or hearing that. What do you think about those names or, more generally, the idea of someone inheriting from you to play these characters?”
Page hadn’t heard those specific names, but seemed to agree.
“I mean, yeah, absolutely. I’m not really [the casting rumors]but they look fantastic. I mean, it would be so exciting to see people jump into a new iteration [of X-Men].”
McAvoy also showed his support for Domingo (potentially) taking over as Xavier.
“Look, I can’t wait to see what happens next. I was a fan before I was employed and I’ll be a fan again! You want it to be… I just can’t wait for it to be… Oh no, that was going to sound bad. It’s going to put a lot of pressure on people. Colman Domingo looks amazing, though!”
Again, we don’t know if there’s actually anything to these casting rumors. It’s entirely possible that the studio has expressed interest in Domingo and Ramsey, but that doesn’t mean they’re actually attached to the film.
We know things are finally moving forward X-Men. Michael Lesslie is working on the script (we hope another writer will join him at some point), and Love at first sight* Director Jake Schreier recently confirmed that he will direct the project.
“I can’t say anything about it, but we’ve started working on X-Men, and that’s obviously very, very exciting.” Schreier revealed during a recent interview with Empire. “There are so many things I didn’t know before I started [Thunderbolts*]. The biggest learning curve for me was the proportion of action versus more emotional, character-driven scenes, and how, even though the number of filming days is longer than ever, they get absorbed into the action pretty quickly. By the time we got to the end, we were like, “Oh, now I feel like we know how to do this a little better.” »
Casting is reportedly underway and a recent rumor claimed that the film is set to hit theaters on May 5, 2028.
