Arteta “ Happy ” with the beginnings of Gyokerres and gives a major update of injuries to the arsenal after the loss of Tottenham

Mikel Arteta presented Viktor Gyoker to the new signature of his first taste of the action of the arsenal during the pre-season confrontation with Tottenham in Hong Kong.

The Swedish striker, signed in a move of 64 million pounds Sterling a few days earlier, was presented in the 77th minute with Arsenal back 1-0.

The Spurs had taken the lead through an excellent finish of Pope Matar Sarr, who launched David Raya halfway.

Since Gyokerres had not been officially unveiled until Saturday and barely trained with his new teammates, Arteta was naturally prudent to give him too many minutes on the ground to avoid any early concern of injuries.

The 26 -year -old barely had the opportunity to get involved in the game, recording only two keys, but his manager was satisfied with what he saw.

Speaking after the defeat, the boss of Arsenal said: “I am really happy to have them here (Gyokerres and Cristhian Mosquera).

“I think they will add a lot of value. You immediately see the energy and quality they will bring.

“It was a short (their beginnings) but at least this one is finished now – and when they play against Villarreal, I am sure that it will be different.”

Major increase in injury

Arteta also provided a positive update on three main Arsenal defenders before the new Premier League campaign.

Gabriel Magalhaes, Riccardo Calafiori and Jurrien Timber should all recover in time for the first game of the Gunners of the season against Manchester United on Sunday August 17.

Gabriel participated in 45 minutes in a friendly victory for the late doors on Watford earlier this summer, but was absent from the club’s pre-season trip to Singapore and Hong Kong due to an injury to the training field.

Calafiori, who started the first two arsenal games on the tour, was forced to leave for a few moments in the second half against Newcastle and then withdrew the match against Tottenham.

Meanwhile, Timber gradually joined complete team sessions after undergoing ankle surgery in May.

Arteta replied when he was asked if one of his players would miss the start of the season: “I don’t think.

“If they are evolving as if they had been involved in the past few days, the three will be available.”
