An agreement which is certainly unlikely to occur this summer is Nico Williams, the Spaniard now approaching his Dream Barcelona move.
Why will Arsenal need an alternative Nico Williams
After a sublime campaign in Euro 2024 last summer, Williams was the city’s speech with his club, Athletic Bilbao, even announcing it as “one of the best wingers in the world”.
This is certainly the case and that explains why Arsenal found negotiations difficult to negotiate an agreement.
Last winter, it was reported that Artata dreamed of signing the Spanish international, but at no time has an agreement ever looked closely.
Indeed, despite a new interest this summer, it seems that the attacker heads for Barcelona.
The last one was provided Tuesday morning by David Ornstein of athletics which claims that the Gunners and Chelsea “cooled” their interest in the 22 -year -old young man as “Barcelona intensifying the prosecution and Bayern Munich plan to move”.
Barça wants to conclude an agreement and has already made a contractual offer to the young winger.
So, with this distance from the table, where will Arsenal’s attention then go? Maybe Anthony Gordon?
According to a report by The Athletic, Arteta and Co have had three names in particular on their limited list to improve their ranks in wide positions.
Williams was one of them, Rodrygo is the other and the final name is Gordon from Newcastle United.
Arsenal is known to be long -term fans of the international in England, this report noting that it is “of interest” for Northern Londoners and that they are exciting “admirers” of its qualities.
Why could Gordon be even better than Nico Williams
You do not attract the interest of Barça without being a very good player and in Williams, you have the next hope of Spain alongside Lamine Yamal on the opposite flank.
Williams is certainly not as exciting as Yamal, but he is still one of the most promising young attackers on the European scene.
However, its figures were not really Also Impressive in recent seasons. In 2023/24, the Bilbao star only marked eight times in all competitions. Impressive, he registered up to 18 assists.
This season, he scored 11 goals while recording seven assists in 45 games with only five of these goals in the action of Laliga.
In comparison, Gordon’s figures are not from another world, but they are tied and he has already produced it in the Premier League.
The 24 -year -old scored nine times and recorded seven assists in 424/25, which was not as impressive as his return from the campaign before. In the best season of his career, the former man of Everton scored 12 and helped 16 goals.
So, in the past two years, there is no enormous quantity to separate them, but what do other figures say?

Well, once again, there is not much to separate them. Williams is heavier, but if Arsenal is looking for objectives, and they are, “incredible” Gordon – in the words of his teammate Bruno Guimaraes – is the best option.
A postponement is considered to be progressive if the ball is moved towards the objective of the opponent at least 10 meters from its starting point or is transported to the penalty zone.
In recent seasons, Arsenal has simply too dependent on Bukayo Saka on the right flank to offer the goods. In 2023/24, he was the club’s top scorer with 20 goals and this season, he was again up there despite half the campaign with an ischio-injury injury.
He finished the campaign on 12 goals, just three behind the main sniper Kai Havertz. As for Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard, they suffered from long periods of inconsistency throughout the campaign.
The latter scored ten in 56, once every 5.6 games, while the first scored ten in 51, once every 5.1 outings. As for Gordon, he marked once every four games there are two seasons and once every 4.6 appearances in 2024/25.
So, with Arteta clearly in search of objectives, Gordon could be the man they need this summer. It is just a shame that he has a requested price of around 100 million pounds sterling. This certainly makes less likely to happen.
