Sports president Frederico Varandas delivered a scathing public declaration intended for Arsenal and those involved in the continuation of the pursuit of the star striker Viktor Gyokerres, in the middle of the increasing tensions surrounding the absence of the pre-season training player.
The Gunners were linked to a move for the Swedish international striker all summer and the player also wishes a move to the Emirates stadium.
However, the first league giants were unable to respond to the requests of the Portuguese club which are firm on their evaluation of the player.
Mikel Arteta and sports director Andrea Berta work hard behind the scenes to conclude the agreement for Gyokerres, but they received a hard blow after the last comments of the sports president.
In a firm message to the Portuguese press agency Agência Lusa, as Ben Jacobs reported, Varandas responded to the failure of Gyokerres to present himself for training as expected, expressing frustration with both the actions of the player and the current transfer speculations binding him to Arsenal of the Premier League.

“We are calm. Everything can be resolved with the closure of the market, a heavy fine and apologies to the group.
“If they [Arsenal] I do not want to pay the fair market value of Viktor, we will be very comfortable with this for the next three years.
“If the geniuses who design this strategy think that it puts pressure on me to facilitate the part of leaving, not only are they completely false, but they also make the player’s departure more complicated.
“No one is above the interests of the club. Whoever they are.”
