Arnold Schwarzenegger in “ killers’ ”

The director of “Predator: Badlands”, Dan Trachtenberg, has a long history with Hall H. For eight years in a row, he aligned himself and waited at night to attend some of the most epic moments of San Diego Comic-Con, of the first sequence of Iron Man when the Avengers gathered. “I was here for the infamous stab,” said Trachtenberg on a closed window. “I was a material witness.” (“The Avengers did not shit,” joked Kevin Smith, who moderated the panel.)
But Friday, it was time for Trachtenberg to make his own room story – like the “predator” guru made his debut new images not one, but two of his entries in the “Predator” franchise.

First, Trachtenberg addressed “Predator: Killer of Killers”, which is currently streaming on Hulu. “Unfortunately, some pieces of killer of killers ” were left on the floor of the cutting room, but recently, we were able to remove it,” said Trachtenberg, resting a clip that would only play for fans in the room.
The new sequence operates as a scene of credits to the film, which originally ended with a cameo by Amber Midthunder from “Prey”, as one of the human warriors captured and frozen by predators. Now the camera continues to hide on the right, first revealing Danny Glover’s lieutenant Mike Harrigan, then the Dutchman of Arnold Schwarzenegger, who created the franchise.
“Recently, I had a little breakfast with Arnold – and super embarrassed on what I ordered,” said Trachtenberg. “We talked a lot about things we could do together and it was very kind to approve your cameo. And we can now continue to prepare things that could be in reserve for this type. ” The director then announced that the new images would make their debut on Friday evening at 7 p.m. PT on Hulu.
The conversation then turned into “Predator: Badlands”, while Stars Elle Fanning and Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi, and the effects of the Alec Gillis effects detailed the ins and outs of making the film. “Badlands” takes place in the future on a remote planet, where a young predator, dek (Schuster-Koloamatan), purc of his clan, finds an improbable ally in a synthetic Android, Thia (Fanning) and embarks on a treacherous journey in search of the ultimate opponent.
When Trachtenberg began to develop the history of “badlands”, he was intrigued by some ideas. “I realized that something that has never happened is that the predator never wins, and they are supposed to be the greatest hunter in the galaxy,” he said. He was also intrigued by the fact that in science fiction films, “we love all secondary characters. We fall in love with creatures and robots, and they are often relegated to being the Salon du Mache, never the protagonist.”
Thus, Trachtenberg settled on this strange couple – a predator with a robot attached on his back. His main inspiration for this image came from another famous science fiction franchise: “Star Wars” “Chewbaccca and C-3PO. “But it’s cool because it’s not Chewbacca,” said the director. “It is not a friendly creature that you follow: it is the predator. He is fierce and hard to cook and very anti-hero. ”

By closing this visual turned out to be more difficult, with Schuster-Koloamatangi carrying to flourish on his back like a backpack, which was also the working title of production.
“We were really in the trenches, like blood, sweat and tears, every day,” said Fanning, dizzy on the practical aspects of production, including Schuster-Koloamatangi carrying a real predator costume on the set. “And he wore, fundamentally, my whole weight on his back. They distributed it, but it was not easy.
“How is your Dimitrius back?” Smith asked while the actor was joking to the shoulders. “Oh, yes, it’s fantastic,” joked Schuster-Koloamatangi.
In fact, after having spent most of the production with Fanning fucked in the back of Schuster-Koloamatangi, she had an idea to make things easier. “She was like:” Why did I not deceive everyone and lifted my body in a strange way to make it look like [he’s carrying me] And we are just going to walk back, ” revealed Tracenberg. “It was great, and the new one did this for rest [of the shoot] After all these sons and everything [had been rigged]. The coolest songs in the film, the most natural feeling is while walking just back with Dimitrius. “(Schuster-Koloamatangi joked:” She had this idea a week before the end of the shooting. “)
Trachtenberg also teased the “Predator: Badlands” connection to the “Alien” franchise, while the film presents the head at the Weyland-Yutani Corporation. The filmmaker was carefully focused on telling a story about a predator and a robot, without humans in history. “Then I said to myself,” I know someone who makes robots, “he teased. “And that, of course, leads to even cooler ideas.” But Trachtenberg was wary of the traps that sometimes come when they stamp in cinematographic universes – “there is a seduction to grasp all the action figurines and ring them together.” Instead, he wanted to do something “more elegant”.
“But is it the form of things to come?” Smith pressed. “You are the” predator “. And if you throw at Weyland-Yutani, it means one day that you are going to be the guy “Alien v. Predator “too?”.
“It would be cool,” admitted Trachtenberg.
Although the film does not open in cinemas before November 7, Comic-Con fans had an overview of an unfinished cup of the first 15 minutes of the film. The images were preceded by a Claumence video which warned against raw VFX (including animation and pre -viz) as well as a temporary score and asked the public “to use your imagination”. But once the clip came into play, everything was immediately forgiven. The full -action sequence sets up the dynamics between Dek, a young predator, who is the film’s protagonist, while his brother Kwei works to prepare him for the quest that will determine his future in his Yautja clan. The images present a brutal battle (in more than one way) which informs the history of science fiction of upcoming maturity in what is certain to be a new epic entry into the franchise.
After the clip, the crew of “Predator: Badlands” and Smith returned on stage for a giant selfie with the crowd 6,500 strong which had all received Yautja masks to wear for the moment.
