You might have the feeling that Apple’s iPhone is one of the best efficient smartphones on the market even without examining the details, but now it’s official: the iPhone 16 is the best -selling smartphone of the year so far.
These new data come from the Counterpoint Research market analysis company and its tracker sales of world combined models. According to the results, for the first quarter of 2025 – from January to March – the basic iPhone 16 model was the best -selling smartphone on a global scale. Apple has maintained a strong grip on the rest of the company’s 10 best list, with the iPhone 16 Pro Max, the iPhone 16 Pro and the previous generation basic model, the iPhone 15 taking the second, third and fourth locations respectively. They were dragged by the iPhone 16 Plus, which took 10th place.
In particular, Counterpoint stressed that this quarter saw the current iPhone base model return to first place. In recent years, including the first quarter of 2024, the variant of the high -end Pro Max has taken first place. The company has attributed this in part to the problems in China, where the government has subsidized cheaper telephone models and where Huawei’s premium offers have offered strong competition.
