Apple TV’s Most Suspensive Thriller Series Gets Electric Preview Ahead of New Episode [Exclusive]

Idris ElbeApple’s new TV series is already back at the top of the streaming charts, but things are just getting started for Divert. The first episode of Divert Season 2 premiered last week and Collider is excited to partner with Apple TV to exclusively premiere a new preview of Episode 2, which begins streaming on January 21st. There were only seven episodes in Divert Season 1 premiered in 2023, but Season 2 received an eight-episode order. Apple TV will continue to release new episodes every week until Season 2 finale airs March 4.

Divert Season 1 took the world by storm when it first aired a few years ago, gaining widespread critical acclaim while spending months at the top of the streaming charts. The series stars Idris Elba as Sam Nelson, a man who finds himself on a plane hijacked by dangerous criminals. Everyone on the plane immediately panics when they notice what’s happening, but Sam quickly realizes that he must keep his cool if everyone is to make it back to the ground alive. Season 2 brings the action to the subway. Divert Season 1 earned a near-perfect 90% Certified Fresh rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes.

It certainly helped that Idris Elba’s face was plastered all over the marketing Divert has become such a success – Elba is currently one of the biggest stars in the world. He even became one of the most popular fan choices to play the next James Bond after Daniel Craigalthough it has been reported that Amazon is looking for a younger actor to play 007. He is best known for his roles as Detective Luther and for playing Heimdall in the MCU.

Divert is currently the most popular show on Apple TV, but it has found competition in other series like Tehran And To many. To manywhich comes from the creator Vince Giligan (Break the bad), recently won the crown of Breakup to become the most-watched show on Apple TV of all time. Apple TV also has some of the best original movies streaming right now, including F1the massive blockbuster starring Brad Pitt which was led by Joseph Kosinski. Anya Taylor-Joythe science fiction film of 2025, The Gorgeshas also become an absolute success when it comes to streaming.
