Wimbledon: Jannik Sinner survives a huge fear while Grigor Dimitrov finds himself injured while the world n ° 1 by two sets | Tennis news

Grigor Dimitrov was left in tears while he was forced to retire injured while leading Jannik Sinner by two sets to miss the quarter -finals of Wimbledon.
The 34-year-old man had brought an advance of 6-3 7-5 while threatening to suppress the number 1 of the world, before falling to the ground by visible discomfort with the 2-2 score in the third set.
The sinner was on site to rush with the help of his counterpart, Dimitrov tightening his right PEC before being helped to his chair.
He finally left the court for a more in -depth exam before returning a few minutes later, an immediate handshake to the sinner marking the end of his challenge.
The sinner will now face Ben Shelton in the last eight after the American defeated Lorenzo Sonego 3-6 6-1 7-5 7-5 earlier during the day.
Dimitrov could not attend his post-match press conference.
“I don’t know what to say. He’s an incredible player. We have all seen this today,” said Sinner in his interview on the field.
“He has been so unlucky in the past two years. An incredible player and a good friend of mine. We understand very well.
“Him in this position, if there would be a chance that he can play the next round, he deserves it.”
Dimitrov, his talent defeated by cruel injuries far too often throughout his career, was endemic in the opening exchanges while he accelerated towards the opening set after having fired six aces, won 95% of the points of first service and converts 11 of the 13 net points to an exaggerated, thoughtful and sinful external.
His supremacy resumed with an immediate breakdown of service in the second, and suddenly, he looked for the whole world if one of the two players would see their challenge raised, it would be a sinner.
The 23 -year -old received a medical time after the third match in the second set, the coaches dealing with his right arm for a blow from a fall which he had taken earlier in the first set.
He was finally allowed to resume and thought that he had sculpted an itinerary in the match when he broke out to do so 5-5, leading his most lively celebration to his belief box that the tide may have turned.
This was not the case. Back came an inspired Dimitrov, which spoke of a superb return of rotation to convert the second of three break points for 6-5 before serving for the second set.
The sinner could always find no answer for the Dimitrov, the pair exchanged two games each in the third set, until the disaster strikes.
A demoralized Dimitrov has prompted dressings and concerned with groans from all over the center of the courtyard while it was pierced on the grass, groaning in pain while holding its higher pect muscle. The spectators feared an inevitable result, and this was confirmed a few moments later when he returned from the locker room and stretched out to concede the match to his counterpart, who took no pleasure in victory.

Sinner to assess the fear of injuries on Tuesday
“I do not take this as a victory at all. It’s just a very unhappy moment for us to see for all of us,” said Sinner in the court.
“In the last Grand Slam, he fought a lot with an injury and seeing now, with this type of injury, it’s very difficult.
“We have all seen his reaction, how much he cares about tennis. He is one of the most working players on the tour.
“It is very unhappy. It is not the end that we wanted to see and it is very sad.
“We all wish him the best.”
On his own injury, which he suffered in the first game in his elbow, Sinner added: “It happened very early in the match, the first match, and it was a fairly unhappy fall.
“I checked the videos a little and it didn’t seem difficult, but I always felt it a lot especially by serving the forehand.
“I could feel it so let’s see. Tomorrow we’re going to check how it is so we will see.”
Has closing the roof played a role in the injury?
The game was arrested for about 10 minutes before the third set in progress, as it was announced that the roof would be closed on the central ground due to the lighting.
The players apparently did not dispute the decision and subsequently obtained another short warm -up before restarting.
The double champion of Wimbledon went to social networks to question the closure of the roof at the time, suggesting that it had been premature.
He posted: “So ridiculous to close the roof at this stage of the match. At least an hour of light on the left…. Well on a set of tennis can always be played … It’s an external tournament!”
Dimitrov’s night had more than four games later when he was injured after closing another service game to level up for two games each.
