The proposed move of Antony from Real Betis to Manchester United stalled after the Laliga club said it had removed their offer for the winger, despite the sources of United saying to ESPN that the offer had been accepted.
The two clubs had negotiated a permanent agreement of a value of up to 25 million pounds Sterling ($ 34 million), but there was a new turn at the saga on Friday when Betis published a statement that said: “There is no agreement for Antony and we removed the offer.
“We cannot afford the costs and amounts that Manchester United must rather pay the player before the transfer.”
Sources have told ESPN that United accepted the offer, but that Betis had withdrawn the concern of Antony’s wages.
Antony had received permission to discuss personal conditions with Betis, where he spent a successful loan spell last season.

If the agreement ends up obtaining the final green light, it will bring the Torrid spell of three years from Antony to Old Trafford to an end.
He arrived from Ajax under the former boss Erik Ten Hag in 2022, but had trouble having a significant impact. His transfer fees of 86 million pounds sterling ($ 116 million) make him the second most expensive signature in the history of United behind Paul Pogba.
Antony impressed Betis last season in Betis, scoring nine goals in 26 games, after his move in January.
Upon his return to United this summer, he was omitted from the team for the pre-season tour of the United States and ordered to train far from the senior team with other excess players with the requirements, including Alejandro Garnacho and Jadon Sancho.
