Another injury problem for Mohammed Shami? The zone skipper is Riyan Parag gives the update

Mohammed Shami was not at his best in the districts of the Duleep Trophy between the East Zone and the North zone, where he only picked up one window.

The only thing that’s keeping Mohammed Shami out of the Indian team, is his fitness. Having played in the Champions Trophy, he was ignored for the IND vs ENG Test series, and also now won’t be part of the Asia Cup 2025 as well. That means, he is not a 100% fit. Even in the Duleep Trophy quarters encounter against North Zone, he only bowled 11 overs in the second innings.

Mohammed Shami unfit again?

East Zone skipper Riyan Parag has come forward and offered an explanation. He said that he suffered a minor twist in the toe, and also hurt it with his spikes. “No, I think he rolled over on his toe and the other spike went over his toe, so that’s why he couldn’t bowl,” quoted as saying by the Times of India.

While that might just be something very minor, but that might just give the selectors another reason, to ignore him for the IND vs AUS ODI series, and the West Indies Test series. IN any case, it would be tough on his body to play both, but a non-selection in either, could just be a sign for his fans.

Also, the Ranji Trophy would be crucial for the pacer, that starts soon too. As far as his overall performance in the match is concerned, he Mohammed Shami wasn’t really at his best. In the first innings, he gave away 100 runs for just one wicket, while in the second he returned with figures of 0/36.

Shami had last played a Test match in 2023, the WTC final against Australia, which the latter had won. Since then, he has been been injured, and not considered for Test selection.
