How do you judge a captain? Based on them leading to victories? Well, Shreyas Iyer does everything to force you to take a look at his captain’s references. In IPL 2025, Iyer changed franchises but no fortunes. KKR did not keep it, but Punjab Kings (PBKS) did everything they could and finally signed it for 26.75 rupes. As captain of a team rejuvenated from Punjab Kings, he took them to their first IPL final in 11 years. During these 11 years, PBKS has not qualified for the playoffs even once.

Now, with Sobo Falcons, Iyer is once again a victory for the lifting of another trophy. The Falcons defeated Bandra Blasters in the semi-finals, chasing 131 with ease. While Iyer did not play with the bat this time, his presence was again in the foreground. The final against Maratha Royals on June 12 at the Wankhede stadium offers Iyer another opportunity to highlight his domination as a T20 leader.

Even outside the captain, the form of Ier was crucial for India. In the ICC 2025 champions trophy, he played a central role in the victorious campaign of India, contributing scores of 56, 79 and 48 to help the team withdraw its second world title in two years.
