The Los Angeles Angels will seek to achieve something they have not done since April 20 when they open a three -game home series against the Washington Nationals on Friday in Anaheim, California.

After swept away the Boston Red Sox in three games, the Angels have been 0,500 for the first time since May 23. A victory on Friday would give them a record of victories for the first time since they left the Giants of San Francisco 5-4 more than two months ago to go to 11-10.

The Angels have won seven of their last 10 and are a match behind the Seattle Navy for the second place of the American League West.

“There is a good atmosphere,” said acting manager Ray Montgomery after the 5-2 Wednesday victory against the Red Sox. “I think the guys are cowardly. They have fun. They don’t feel like they are out of any game, and you can feel it in the canoe. Continue to play, continue to cring.”

Jose Soriano (5-5, 3.39 ERA) will get the start for the Angels, who have won each of his last three departures. He won his first victory since May 30 when he launched 6 2/3 three-strokes and three strokes in a 9-1 victory on the Houston Astros on Saturday, when he also withdrew 10 and won three.

The 26 -year -old right -hander has the start of a career against nationals. On August 9, 2024, he made six rounds and granted a point on a walk and four strokes. Soriano also withdrew seven, but obtained a decision without a decision while the host nationals gathered to win 3-2 in 10 rounds.

Offensively, voltiseur Jo Adell is enjoying a sequence of eight eight games – one of the longest in his career. The choice of draft of the first round 2017 continues to show signs of growth during its sixth season in the majors. Four of his nine strokes during the sequence were circuits. His 17 circuits for the season lead him with the receiver Logan O’Hoppe for the second place of the team behind Taylor Ward 19.

It was a long month for nationals. Dave Martinez’s team won only five of the 23 games in June. Currently on a Road Trip in California of nine games, Washington has lost four of the six competitions so far. Earlier this month, the Nationals endured a slip of 11 games which was the longest sequence of the team victories since 2008.

Jake Irvin (6-3, 4.18 ERA) will take the mound for nationals. He won the victory last Saturday when he held the Los Angeles Dodgers at two points and six strokes in 5 1/3 innings in a 7-3 victory. The third year right -hander, 28, withdrew seven shots on Saturday and did not walk for the second time in 16 departures this season.

Friday’s appearance will be his first departure against the Angels.

Three of the four defeats of Washington during the current trip on the road were in a round. This included a 1-0 defeat against the Padres of San Diego on Wednesday, when the Nationals only made three strokes and could not provide any support for their AS, Mackenzie Gore.

“It’s about us, it’s on alignment,” said the defender of the Jacob Young Center. “He keeps us in almost all the matches. We just couldn’t mark the shopping.”

The Washington range includes several young strikers, led by the left field player James Wood. The 22 -year -old lead the team with 22 circuits and 63 points produced in his first full season in the majors.
