The queen has arrived!
Tonight at Vogue World: Hollywood, Angela Bassett made a special appearance, reprising her role as Queen Ramonda from the film Black Panther frankness, nothing less. For her walk on the Paramount Pictures runway, Bassett wore an original look from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever— the dress Ramonda wears to a UN meeting in Geneva.

Designed by Ruth E. Carter, the dress is marked by a vibrant purple hue (the color of royalty) and a backless silhouette with a sculptural gold collar. Wakandan hieroglyphs are woven into the center and sides of the dress, and Ramonda’s 3D-printed crown sits atop an isicholo, a traditional hat worn by a married Zulu woman.
Carter collaborated with artist Julia Koerner on the 3D elements of the look, and Douriean Fletcher was tasked with designing Ramonda’s jewelry, including her earrings and gem-embellished necklace.
