The former major fever andruw Jones was appointed director of the Netherlands for the World Baseball 2026 classic, he was announced on Tuesday.

“It is an immense honor to manage #teamkingdomnl in the World Baseball Classic,” said Jones in an Instagram post announcing the rental. “I wore the uniform as a player and coach, and now trusting the team is a great honor. I can’t wait to build a large team with my coache staff.”

Jones, an All-Star voltiger five times during his 17 MLB seasons, participated as a player for the Netherlands in 2006 and 2013. He was also a bench coach in 2017 and 2023.

The Netherlands will open the game in the Piscine D in Miami – with the Dominican Republic, Israel and Nicaragua – when WBC starts next March.

Jones was also selected to serve as a successful coach under the Manager of the National League Chipper Jones for the All-Star term match on July 12 in Truist Park in Atlanta.
