Andre Russell officially leaves cricket after the total humiliation of the Antilles

Andre Russell, the rendering of the national 37 -year -old national superstar of the Superstar of the Antilles, officially announced his retirement from international cricket.

The announcement of André Russell’s retirement comes a few days after the 27 total humiliations that the team Antilles were faced with the third test against Team Australia in Sabina Park, Kingston, Jamaica.

Andre Russell all ready to retire after Jamaica T20is

Russell announced that he would move away from international cricket after the first two T20i games against Australia on his field – Sabina Park, Kingston, Jamaica.

Despite being considered a versatile world -class sewing and one of the biggest superstars in the history of T20 Cricket, he only played 84 T20i games for the Antilles.

In these matches, he scored 1078 points and picked up 61 counters. He became a double world champion T20 at the start of his visit to international cricket and presented his domination in the format.

Russell also played 56 ODI games in which he scored 1034 and put 70 bags in a bag. The only appearance of Russell test match went up in 2010 in November against the Sri Lanka national cricket team at the Galle International Stadium.

Like several other legends of modern West Indies, Russell has mainly focused on his T20 career and has so far played 561 games in the format. He did not make him available as a T20I player as since 2019 and decided to stay away from the other two formats.

Russell’s retirement from International Cricket in July 2025 means that it will miss the T20 World Cup of next year in India and Sri Lanka. It is a massive blow for the Antilles, as recently one of the best power strikers on the Caribbean side – Nicholas Pooran – also left international cricket.

In his official retirement statement, Andre Russell said that wearing the brown jersey for the Antilles was one of his “most proud achievements”, and that he wants to be a “model” for the next generation of cricket players.

“Words cannot explain what it meant. Representing the Antilles was one of the most proud achievements of my life,” said Russell.

“When I was a child, I did not expect to reach this level, but the more you start to play and love sport, you realize what you can do. It inspired me to get better because I wanted to leave a brand in brown colors and become an inspiration for others.”

“I love playing for the West Indies and I love playing at home in front of my family and friends where I can present my talent and produce more high quality performances. I want to finish my international career at the top while being a model for the next generation of the Caribbean cricket players.”

The head coach of the National Cricket Antilles National Team, Daren Sammy, praised rich on Andre Russell and qualified as “fierce competitor”.

“Andre has always been the professional accomplished and a fierce competitor,” said coach Daren Sammy.

“Whether I captain him or I train him now, his hunger to play and win for the Antilles has never hesitated. I wish him all the best in his next chapter, and I hope he will continue to inspire the generations to come.”

The last two international appearances of André Russell will arrive on July 21 and 23, and after the two T20i games, he will be replaced by Matthew Forde in the team
