And like this star Kristin Davis on this shocking health twist

Note: This story contains spoilers of season 3 “and just like that”, episode 5.

“And just like that,” launched a key to Charlotte’s perfect family life in season 3, with a heartbreaking touch of health that she will have to keep secret – for the moment.

In episode 5, entitled “Under the Table”, Charlotte (Kristin Davis) learned that her husband Harry (Handler Evan) was diagnosed with prostate cancer. He quickly reassures her that he has a good prognosis, because the doctors caught it early and that his form of illness has a survival rate of 98%. But that does not do much to appease his fears, especially after his promise to tell anyone, including his friends and their children.

“People get all kinds of unexpected health news. This is true in life,” Davis told Thewrap from The Twist. “She holds Harry in such a sacred place, and this family she created, it would be very scary for her to feel like she could lose that.”

The news hit the Goldenblatt house while they were preparing for a joint trip with Lisa Todd Wexley (Nicole Ari Parker) and her family. With the secret of the diagnosis in her mind, Charlotte found herself to get away with her children when they shared their hesitation in making the trip. In fact, even Harry ended up not being enthusiastic about the trip after being attacked by mosquitoes, leading Charlotte to walk alone. Lisa, who also had a disagreement with her husband on the new editor -in -chief of her docutery, ended up behaving with her friend. Although Charlotte did not share the reason for being more distant than usual, Lisa has always given her support.

“Charlotte has been the support based on everyone for two years, so we knew from the point of view of writing that it was time for her to need support,” added Michael Patrick King.

King said that the initial shock of the Harry News has slowed down Charlotte and triggers a very “sex and city” version of the fear of health scenario when marriage is tested when their intimate connection is called into question. Davis also teased that as a known and loving goalkeeper, having the love of his life dealing with cancer will push her like never before.

But King assured that the story will not become too tragic, adding: “Do you think I’m going to kill Harry?”

“And like that” publishes new episodes Thursday on Max.
