Jack Reacher of Alan Ritchson has gone a long way since he thwarted a corruption plot in the small town of Margrave, in Georgia. In 2022, season 1 of “Reacher” saw Ritchson’s former military member arriving in the city (which was built in a Canadian corn field) and caused all kinds of ravages after his brother was discovered dead and he blamed the murder. Since then, he faced Shane Langston by Robert Patrick in season 2 (in what was a clear tribute to a classic from James Cameron) and thwarted an international arms dealer and his sprawling operation in season 3.

But back in season 1, he was just a guy looking for a place to get a slice of pie, before he ended up in the plot of the small town which finally saw him put an end to a counterfeit operation and erase his name. In the process, he also made a link with the Oscar Finlay of Malcolm Goodwin, chief detective of the Margrave police department – although the pair is not hard in the right foot when Finlay quickly stopped the moments of the director after his arrival in town. At the end of the season, however, the pair had become quite close, Finlay helping to rely in his mission and established himself as a favorite character of fans (with the officer of Willa Fitzgerald, Roscoe Conklin). While the show continued, Asry has continued its trips to the United States and, as such, the casting has changed each successive season. But it seems that Ritchson himself has always had a weakness for a particular scene of this first series of episodes.

Alan Ritchson loved working with Malcolm Goodwin

After the end of season 1, Alan Ritchson said he was thinking that “Reacher” should bring Roscoe and Finlay back, which he has already done in the second season. The fourth episode of season 2 saw the return of Finlay when Reaching and his former 110th team of special investigations visit Boston and find his former comrade working in the city’s police forces. It must have been a great moment for Ritchson himself, because it seems that he still thinks of one of his season 1 scenes with Malcolm Goodwin as a time outside his career. In an interview with Cinelinx in 2022, the actor was questioned about his favorite moments of season 1 and said:

“There are moments that I appreciate for different reasons. There is a scene that takes place between Oscar Finlay – played by Malcolm Goodwin – and this is one of my favorite scenes in which I was part as an actor. Not so much because of what I Did, but testifies to the brilliant work that Malcolm did in the scene. “”

Ritchson does not specify the scene to which he refers, but there are several out -of -competition moments between the pair, including their final scene together in the same restaurant that Reward visited his arrival in Margarve. There is also the scene in which Finlay and Reacher visit Kliner Sr. de Currie Graham at his office, and Finlay finally breaks, threatening the CEO to stop huge his investigation, which makes a little laugh after the explanative threats of Finlay take all the air of the play. The star added: “What [Malcolm] Bring to Oscar, vulnerability, history and pain; It was just so good. It was so good. I was fighting the desire to smile, as a fan, in the scene. I had to tell myself to stay [character]! “”

Will Oscar Finlay amount to Reacher?

The showrunner “Reacher”, Nick Santora, said that we have little chance that Osca Finlay or Roscoe Conklin returns to the series, because writers must remain faithful to the series of books by Lee Child and his anthology format. But they have already brought Oscar, and taking into account the praise of the praise he received from Alan Ritchson and his favorite status from fans, it would not be a surprise to see him come back once again. As Ritchson said previously, Jacob Hall of film when asked to bring Finlay and Roscoe back in a future season, “they were simply too good. We are building a world here, and although it is an anthology, to be able to remind the public that it is a real journey that he is taken and there are people who are still there.”

For the moment, we are waiting for season 4 of “Reacher”, which is based on the book with the most breathtaking revelation of the whole series. The show runs in Philadelphia, and the photos have shown that the season actually takes place in this city rather than using Philly as a replacement for another city. With Finlay in Boston, he is not too far to help his old boyfriend, but if the writers will take him so shortly after his cameo in season 2 remains uncertain. It certainly seems that Ritchson would be in favor, however …
