Amy Schumer divorces husband Chris Fischer

Amy Schumer and her husband, Chris Fischer, are separating.
THE Life and Beth The actress shared the news on Instagram on Friday, where she noted that the split was “amicable.”
“Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage after 7 years,” Schumer wrote alongside a photo of her and Fischer. “We love each other very much and will continue to focus on raising our son.”
Schumer seemingly parodied the divorce announcements in the rest of the caption, writing “Blah blah blah” at the beginning and middle of the post: “We would appreciate it if people would respect our privacy at this time. blah blah blah it’s not because I lost a few pounds and thought I could put the basket in my bag and not because he’s a hot Janlmes. [sic] Bearded award-winning chef who can still pull off a hot cock. Friendly and all love and respect! A family forever. »
The Emmy Award winner married the chef in February 2018. Eight months later, she announced that she was expecting their first child, son Gene, who was born in May 2019.
Schumer has spoken candidly about her marriage over the years, incorporating Fischer into some of her comedies. During his 2019 Netflix special Growthshe revealed that he was on the autism spectrum.
“I knew all along that my husband’s brain was a little different than mine,” Schumer said on the special at the time. “My husband was diagnosed with what used to be called Asperger’s. He has autism spectrum disorder. He’s on the spectrum.”
Schumer’s real-life marriage paralleled her character’s in the second season of Life and Bethwhile Beth’s (Schumer) husband John (Michael Cera) is diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
THE A little pregnant the star said The Hollywood Reporter in 2024, that the show was “definitely not a documentary” and that it “really tr[ies] choose » which elements of his real life are reflected in his professional projects.
Schumer also said THR Fischer was a consulting writer for the second season and that several of the writers had connections to autism.
“We really wanted to be respectful and show that when we talk about spectrum, what that word means,” Schumer said. “It’s a broad spectrum, and that’s part of it that you don’t often see: a high achiever. And that’s not what defines him.”
