Amorim must ax man utd flop which earns more than Wharton & Baleba

The Manchester United salaries bill has been questioned in recent seasons, their expenses for players being well above their league from 2024/25.

The Red Devils had the second largest wage bill in the Premier League last season, spending 180 million pounds sterling on single wages – with only its rivals Manchester City by spending more.

Ruben Amorim was responsible for the challenge of reducing such a figure during the summer – something that he managed to do partly on the day of the deadline.

The club has agreed to send Jadon Sancho on loan to Aston Villa for the entire 2025/26 season – with the Unai Emery team agreeing to pay 80% of the remuneration package of £ 250,000 per week of the winger.

However, the hierarchy would probably have spent some of these funds saved if they had entered into an agreement for one of the many targets that were on their radar during the summer transfer window.

The move from United to Land Wharton & Baleba this summer

Throughout the transfer window, United targeted a decision for a new midfielder for the team, which led to an agreement concluded to land the star of Crystal Palace, Adam Wharton.

It was reported that the Red Devils wanted an agreement for the international in England, but a switch became unlikely after the Amorim team was cited in the region of 100 million pounds Sterling.

Another option they considered was the star of Brighton & Hove Albion, Carlos Baleba, even entering discussions with the player’s representatives in a passage to Old Trafford.

At one point, it seemed that the player himself would be opened at a switch to join the Red Devils, but as Wharton, he stayed with his current employers after the Seagulls said that he was not for sale.

While the hierarchy could not win a new midfielder for Amorim, they always have a player on books that desperately need to be sold in the near future.

United has many high -level talents in their books currently, with Kobbie Mainoo, a graduate of the Academy, one of the options currently available to Amorim.

However, the Englishman has found minutes difficult to find in the past two months, not starting from the Premier League outings – with his only start to come against Grimsby in the Carabao Cup.

Consequently, the 20 -year -old clearly explained his feelings before the deadline on Monday – asking later to leave Old Trafford on a temporary basis to save a precious playing time.

He was late on Manuel Ugarte and Bruno Fernandes in the hierarchical order, with another Brazilian player to whom Amorim clearly trusts the place of Mainoo.

The former Real Madrid star joined an agreement of 60 million pounds sterling in the summer of 2022, but quickly decreased in recent times – while he was heading back to the age of 33.

Despite his age, Casemiro began the three outings of the league, but had trouble impressing to date, only ending 80% of the passes he has attempted in the high flight of England.

However, despite his recent departures from the Amorim team, his future appears in the air, the player having only an agreement on his contract at Old Trafford.

He should probably have been discharged before now, with his performances the last campaign that has not drawn attention – which led to Mark Goldbridge qualifying him as “shocking”.

His current remuneration package of £ 350,000 per week is well above what he should earn – with such a figure making him the highest employee of the team, winning 18.2 million pounds sterling per season.

The Brazilian is currently gaining more than Wharton and Baleba, the pair currently winning only £ 35,000 and £ 12.5,000 per week – stressing how old Madrid’s former talent is currently overpaid.

Given his gigantic earnings, United needs desperately needed to release the player from the invoice, with real impetus needing to be put in place in pursuit of their cost reduction operation.

There are so many better and cheaper options currently available in European football, which should see Amorim continue a move for one of the talents aforementioned once again in the near future.
