AMORIM: Man united players need victories to cure the scars of last season

Ruben Amorim has suggested that some of his Manchester United players still find it difficult to escape the scars from last season when they go in search of consecutive victories from Premier League to Brentford.

United has not yet won consecutive championship matches under Amorim.

They are fortunate to change the unwanted race when they visit the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday after the 2-1 victory of last weekend against Chelsea.

Another victory would be a welcome step for Amorim and his players.

And the Portuguese coach finally admitted to winning consecutive matches to help his team start to overcome the trauma of last season when United lost almost half of his championship matches and finished 15th.

“I think if we start to win [a question of] 10 consecutive victories, “said Amorim.

“I’m talking about the second, then the third. The feeling will change and once again is something on the environment that we live for a while.

“If you look at Bryan [Mbeumo] At this time when we struggle, you feel a different guy compared to the rest of the team.

“You must understand that some of the guys are there for a while and this feeling is still there and for that [to change] We have to win matches. “”

United impressed with spells against Chelsea last weekend and were also congratulated for their performance against Arsenal on the day of the season.

Last season, they beat Manchester City and Arsenal and drew with Liverpool in Anfield.

It was against the so-called small teams that United was struggling and Amorim called on his players to treat Brentford as if they were another of the six best in the Premier League.

“The important thing is to do the maximum and to face this match as if we had faced Liverpool last year because we have trouble, or the way we started the season against Arsenal,” he said.

“We were really delighted to start the season. We should have this feeling all the time.

“I think if we team up, if we don’t understand the momentum now, we have a big problem.

“We must understand the momentum of the club and the opportunity that we must win the next match. So it is for us and the responsibility is on us.”
