Amorim delighted with Man Utd’s second half response as Palace comeback

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim was beaming at full-time after his side staged a comeback to beat Crystal Palace 2-1.

Despite a penalty from Jean-Philippe Mateta, the Red Devils rallied in the second half, with Joshua Zirkzee and Mason Mount getting on the scoresheet.

It propelled the Manchester club into the European places and Amorim was delighted in his post-match interviews.

Reflecting on the match, he said: “I think we had more intensity in the second half. We played better and the opponents were more tired, so it’s all connected.

“The little things, the way Josh [Zirkzee] the control of the ball was different, the way we defended second balls was different, these little details make the difference.

“It’s very important because it’s difficult to play against all the opponents.

“You can feel the touches, the free kicks, the corners to score a goal, open the game and give more confidence to the team.

“If you watch the Premier League and you don’t work on set pieces, you’re already losing the game.

“It’s so important for a striker to score goals.

“He doesn’t play a lot of minutes but the way he responded in the second half is really important.

“It’s more important than the goal, the little details, the connections, it’s important for our game and the goal is important for the team and for him.”
