Okogie added: “It remains a great honor to represent my country Nigeria. I was excited when we held a training camp at home three months ago… in August… and played two friendly matches against Guinea.

“It was my first time playing basketball in Nigeria. I loved playing in front of the fans. The whole environment made it the most heartfelt game I have ever played in my life.”

He concluded by reiterating that any serious player should also be proud to put on his country’s jersey at any time, as he always feels.

Okogie submitted: “Being able to represent your country and play in front of them is a big honor for me. The fact that I was born there made it really cool for me to go back there to play for the country.”

Sports247 reports that Okogie will get another chance to prove his love for Nigeria when he breaks loose with the D’Tigers this Thursday against host nation Tunisia in the first phase of the African qualifiers for the upcoming FIBA Men’s Basketball World Cup.
