American Film Festival welcomes us independent filmmakers

The American Film Festival in Poland is ready to celebrate its Sweet Sixteen in November. Its industry is underway being accepted by submissions until September 10, looking for narrative projects in the final stages of the publishing.

“We hope that the uncertainty of the future of transatlantic collaboration – if Trump’s prices on film production outside the United States will be implemented – will make our program even more sought after,” explains artistic director Ula śniegowska.

“This is the only event in industry outside the United States on which and grant priority to American filmmakers in order to recognize and raise awareness of Polish production and post-production assets.”

The total price value of last year reached $ 180,000.

This year, filmmakers will also visit studios offering “cutting -edge technologies” and services, from ATM Virtual to Platige Mocap Studio.

“The current United States is an extremely important event for us. Meeting American producers and directors gives us an opportunity not only to exchange experiences, but also to support talented creators, ”notes Marcelina Salwin, marketing manager at Platige Image. The company, with 30 years of experience in film production, VFX and animation, is known for “The Witcher” and “Another Day of Life” and develop its own production “OPI”, a horror inspired by local folklore.

This year, the event will start in Warsaw, with two days of “professional networking with companies based in Warsaw”, explains śniegowska. Later, moving to his hometown of Wrocław.

Aff has seen familiar faces over the years – more recently, Jesse Eisenberg who has accepted the Indie Star Prize and presented the “A Real Pain”, a winner of an Oscar, which takes place in Poland. Previously, Rosanna Arquette and John Waters also picked up their statuettes.

“The partner business basin which opens their doors to American filmmakers, sometimes for the first time, is developing constantly,” says śniegowska. “The post-producer community also consolidates power through the new Polish post-production association, which has become our partner.”

Like “erupcja” by Pete Ohs – also shot in Poland and completed with the studio and the black and black photon of Image – is also waiting for his first in Toronto, the former students also traveled the festival circuit: “obex” by Albert Birney, “Bunnylovr” by Katrina Zhou and Juliet “, by Katrina Zhou and Juliet” Katrina Zhou and Juliet Lewyl Design “by Amanda Kramer.

“I am very proud of” by design “, which received orka studio and soundflower studio prizes, and created in Sundance,” explains śniegowska. “What makes me really happy is that throughout the years, the United States has favored sustainable collaborations, with a number of producers returning to the program.”

Just like Sarah Winshall or Vanishing Angle Team of “By Design”, which collected the polish film Institute Award for “Under the Lights” only last year. Platige Image, Di Factory and Fixafilm collaborated on its post-production.

“Winning these awards gave` `under the Enlightenment ” an invaluable industry approval sampon. He showed our partners and supporters that it was a film with a real merit, and that recognition has created an overvoltage of Momentum which transported us by post-production and finally helped us to pass the film through the finish line,” and development in Vanishing Angle.

The team is now post-production on another feature, “The Edge of Normal”, shot in America and finished in Spain.

“More and more, international co -productions become a necessity. The increase in cinema costs in the United States and broader access to funding abroad mean that finishing international films is often one of the rare viable paths for independent filmmakers in America.

American Film Festival takes place from November 6 to 11.
