Amazon plans to close all of its Amazon Fresh stores in the United Kingdom when it focuses on online grocery services.
The electronic commerce giant plans to close 14 stores and convert five others to Whole Foods market stores, he said in a statement on Tuesday.
“In the event of closure, our goal is to offer redeployment opportunities to as many affected employees as possible,” said Amazon said, without specifying the number of jobs in danger.
Amazon bought Whole Foods Market, a chain of supermarkets that targets richer customers in 2017.
The technological company said that it had decided to consult the employees about the proposed closure following “an in -depth evaluation” of its commercial operations and “very substantial” growth opportunities in online delivery.
